# Cool Family Games > 64 free browser games for families, parties and classrooms. No account, no download, no adverts, no in-app purchases. Everything runs in the browser and works on a phone, tablet or computer. ## Key facts - Free with no sign-up, no email and no payment of any kind. - Nothing to install. Every game runs in the browser. - Some games are played on one shared screen; some let friends join with a five-letter code; some are played against the computer. - A children's section at /kids contains only games with no chat, no join codes and no way for a stranger to make contact. - Several games are generated by AI (quiz and party questions) with built-in fallback question banks, so they work without an AI key. ## Pages - [All games](https://coolfamilygames.com/): the full catalogue, grouped by category. - [Kids Corner](https://coolfamilygames.com/kids): games for children, pitched by the age you choose. No chat, no join codes. - [World classics](https://coolfamilygames.com/world): traditional board games by country of origin. - [Lobby](https://coolfamilygames.com/lobby): find someone to play a two-player game with. - [Search](https://coolfamilygames.com/search): search the catalogue. ## Kids Corner - [Counting Fun](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/counting-fun) - Count the pictures and tap the number. 1 player, suitable for children (3-7). Count the pictures, tap the number. The wrong answers always sit within three of the right one, so a child has to actually count rather than eliminate a silly option. Three levels take it from five to twenty, the question is read aloud for children who cannot read yet, and there is no timer and no way to lose - a wrong tap just fades and invites another go. - [First Sums](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/first-sums) - Adding and taking away, gently. 1 player, suitable for children (4-8). Simple sums with big buttons and answers that sit close together, so the only way through is to work it out. Level one adds within five; higher levels reach twenty and start taking away, never below zero. Read aloud, never timed, and impossible to fail - a wrong tap fades and they try again. - [Letter Hunt](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/letter-hunt) - Which letter does it start with? 1 player, suitable for children (3-6). See the picture, pick the letter it starts with. The pictures are all things a small child can name without help, because the game is testing the sound and not the vocabulary. Sixteen letters with clear starting sounds - the ones whose sound shifts depending on what follows are left out on purpose. - [Shapes and Colours](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/shape-match) - Name the shape you can see. 1 player, suitable for children (3-6). Six shapes a young child meets everywhere - circle, square, triangle, star, heart and diamond - each shown in one strong colour so the shape and its name are the only things to hold in mind at once. The gentlest game in the kids section, and a sensible first one for a three-year-old. - [Odd One Out](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/odd-one-out) - All but one belong together. 1 player, suitable for children (4-9). Three pictures belong together and one does not. The groups are deliberately obvious - an animal among fruit, never something vague like things that are round - because a clever child who finds a second defensible answer and is told they are wrong learns to distrust their own reasoning. ## Party & Multiplayer - [20 Questions](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/twenty-questions) - Ask out loud. It answers out loud. The oldest car game there is. 1+ players. The computer thinks of something and you ask yes-or-no questions with your voice. Tap the mic, ask out loud, and hear the answer read back so the whole room can play without crowding the screen. Twenty questions to get it. No microphone, or on an iPhone? Type instead and it plays exactly the same. - [Live Quiz](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/kahoot) - Everyone plays on their phone. Fastest right answer wins. 2-40 players. AI writes fresh riddles on any theme, from easy ones for young kids to real head-scratchers for adults. ## Social & Deduction - [Find the Imposter](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/imposter) - Everyone knows the secret word... except one sneaky spy. 3-12 players. Pass one phone around. Everyone sees the secret word except the imposter. Talk it out, drop hints, then vote on who the spy is. No pens, no paper, no prep - just laughs. - [Draw & Guess](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/draw-and-guess) - Sketch the secret word while everyone shouts guesses. 3+ players. Pictionary-style drawing fun on one screen. The artist secretly peeks at a word, then draws it on the built-in canvas while everyone guesses. AI generates fresh drawing prompts on any topic you type, tuned to your group's age and difficulty. - [Categories](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/categories) - One letter, ten categories, one ticking timer. Go! 2-8 players. A Scattergories-style word rush. The app picks a random letter and a themed list of categories - everyone races to write an answer for each before time runs out. AI builds new category lists on any theme, for any age group. - [Story Builder](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/story-builder) - Fill in silly words, then hear the ridiculous story they made. 1+ players. A Mad-Libs-style fill-in-the-blanks game. Shout out nouns, verbs, and names without seeing the story, then watch the hilarious result read back word by word. AI writes brand-new story templates on any topic, tailored to your group's age. - [MASH](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/mash) - Mansion, Apartment, Shack or House? Your future revealed. 1+ players. The nostalgic pen-and-paper fortune-teller, now automatic. Fill in your options, pick a magic number, and let MASH reveal your hilarious future: where you'll live, who you'll marry, your job, your car and more. - [Word Chain](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/word-chain) - Each word starts with the last letter of the one before. 1-6 players. A fast-thinking word race. Each player must call out a word starting with the last letter of the previous one - before the timer runs out. Repeat a word or freeze up and you're out. Last player standing wins. - [20 Number Challenge](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/twenty-numbers) - Slot 20 random numbers into order - without getting stuck. 1 player. A brilliantly simple brain-teaser. Numbers appear one at a time and you must place each into one of 20 slots, keeping them all in ascending order. Run out of valid slots and it's game over. How many can you place? - [Beat the Timer](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/timer-game) - Stop the hidden clock as close to the target as you can. 1-6 players. Test your internal clock. Start the timer, count in your head, and stop it as close to the target time as possible - with the countdown hidden. Closest guess wins. Deceptively hard and very competitive. - [Ask the Oracle](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/oracle) - Ask a yes-or-no question and the mystic orb answers. Any group. A magical fortune-telling orb. Ask any yes-or-no question, give it a shake, and receive your mysterious answer. Silly, spooky, and strangely convincing - the perfect way to settle life's big decisions. ## Classroom & Team Games - [Bingo](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/bingo) - Daub your card as numbers are called - five in a row wins! Any group. A full bingo caller plus your own daubable card. The app pulls random numbers B-I-N-G-O style, you mark your card, and it spots your win automatically. Great for classrooms, family nights, and big groups. - [Family Feud](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/family-feud) - Name the top survey answers before you get three strikes. 2 teams. Two teams battle to guess the most popular answers to fun survey questions. Reveal answers to score, rack up strikes on a miss, and steal the board. A family-feud-style showdown built for game night and class review. - [Deal or No Deal](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/deal-or-no-deal) - Open cases, dodge the banker, and hold your nerve. 1 player. Pick your lucky case and start opening the rest. After each round the banker makes an offer - do you take the safe money, or risk it all for the top prize? A nerve-shredding game of luck and greed. - [Taboo](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/taboo) - Get your team to guess the word - without saying the forbidden ones. 2+ teams. Describe the secret word to your team, but you can't use any of the five forbidden words on the card. Slip up and it's a foul. A fast, funny, and surprisingly tricky word-guessing party classic. - [Headbands](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/headbands) - Hold the phone to your forehead and guess your secret word. 2+ players. Hold the screen to your forehead so everyone but you can see the word. Your team gives clues, you shout guesses, and you race the clock. A hilarious Heads-Up-style guessing game for any group. - [Pyramid](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/pyramid) - One partner describes, the other guesses all seven words. 2+ players. A word-clue race in pairs. One player sees a themed list of seven words and describes each; their partner races to guess them all before the timer runs out. Great for parties and classroom vocabulary review. - [Word Jumble](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/word-jumble) - Unscramble the letters to find the hidden word. 1+ players. The letters are all mixed up - can you unscramble them? Each puzzle comes with a helpful hint. Build a streak, beat the clock, and sharpen your spelling. A perfect quick brain teaser for all ages. ## 2-Player Classics - [Tic Tac Toe](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/tic-tac-toe) - Three in a row wins. Beat a friend or an unbeatable AI. 1-2 players, suitable for children (4-10). The timeless X and O showdown. Play head-to-head on one device, or take on a perfect-play AI that never loses. Quick rounds, instant rematches - the ideal warm-up game. - [Connect Four](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/connect-four) - Drop your discs and line up four before your rival does. 1-2 players, suitable for children (5-12). Take turns dropping coloured discs into the grid and race to connect four in a row - across, down, or diagonally. Play a friend or challenge a sharp AI. Simple to learn, tricky to master. - [Dots & Boxes](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/dots-and-boxes) - Close the most boxes to win this pencil-and-paper classic. 1-2 players, suitable for children (6-12). Draw one line per turn. Complete the fourth side of a box to claim it and go again. Whoever owns the most boxes when the grid fills up wins. Choose your grid size and outsmart a friend or the AI. - [Reversi](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/reversi) - Outflank your opponent to flip the board your colour. 1-2 players. Also known as Othello. Trap your opponent's discs between two of yours to flip them. The board swings back and forth right up to the final move. Play a friend or a strategic AI. - [Checkers](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/checkers) - Jump, capture, and crown your kings to win. 2 players. The strategy classic, also called draughts. Move diagonally, jump your opponent's pieces to capture them, and reach the far side to crown a king. Clear the board or block every move to win. ## Dice Games - [Snakes and Ladders](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/snakes-and-ladders) - Climb the ladders, dodge the snakes. Pure luck, all ages. 2-4 players, suitable for children (4-10). The hundred-square board with nine ladders up and ten snakes down, drawn properly so you can see every coil and rung. Two to four counters, exact roll to finish on 100, and the computer will take any seats you cannot fill. It began in India as Moksha Patam, where the ladders were virtues and the snakes were vices - and there were always more snakes. No skill whatsoever, which is exactly why a four-year-old can beat a grandparent fair and square. - [Pig Dice](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/pig) - Push your luck rolling for points - but don't roll a 1! 2-6 players. Roll to build points, then bank them before a 1 wipes your turn to zero. A dead-simple dice game of nerve and greed that anyone can learn in ten seconds. First to 100 wins. - [Farkle](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/farkle) - Set aside scoring dice and press your luck without going bust. 2-6 players. Roll six dice, keep the scoring ones, and decide whether to bank or risk it all on another roll. Score no points and you Farkle, losing everything that turn. A dice-chucking classic of guts and greed. ## Cards & Solo - [Colour Memory](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/simon) - Watch the lights, tap them back. It never stops growing. 1-4 players, suitable for children (4-12). A ring of glowing pads, each with its own note. Watch the sequence, tap it back, and it grows by one every single round. Four colours or six, three speeds, and a best score kept per mode. Two to four can play it as a knockout: the sequence keeps growing as it goes round the room and one wrong tap puts you out. - [Memory Match](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/memory-match) - Turn two cards. Remember everything. Beat the grown-ups. 1-4 players, suitable for children (3-10). Pairs, Concentration, Pelmanism - the same game everybody grew up calling something different. Six picture sets, four board sizes from a gentle twelve cards to a properly hard thirty-six, one to four players on one screen, and a computer opponent whose memory you can set from forgetful to photographic. It is the rare game small children reliably win, because they are watching the cards and you are busy thinking. - [304 Card Game](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/304) - Bid, bury a secret trump, and race your partner to 304 points. 1 player + 3 bots. The legendary Sri Lankan and Tamil trick-taking card game. Jacks rule every suit, the trump stays face down until a hidden trump busts the game open, and your team needs the points it bid. Play the Jaffna classic against three computer players. ## Arcade & Puzzle - [Bubble Shooter](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/bubble-shooter) - Aim, bounce, pop. Then watch half the board fall. 1 player, suitable for children (5-12). Swing the cannon, bank a shot off the wall, and pop three of a colour - then watch everything that was hanging from them come down for double. Three to six colours, four difficulty settings, an aiming line you can switch off once you can see the angles yourself, and a best score kept in your browser. - [Jewel Match](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/jewels) - Swap three in a line. Then watch the chain run away with it. 1 player, suitable for children (6-12). Swap two jewels to line up three or more, and the ones that drop in to fill the gap often line up by themselves - which is where the real scores come from. Thirty moves, ninety seconds, or endless. Every jewel has its own shape as well as its own colour, so it plays properly if you are colour blind. - [Brick Breaker](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/brick-breaker) - The bat is a steering wheel, not a wall. 1 player, suitable for children (6-12). Five hand-built levels of bricks, some needing several hits and some that never break at all. Catch the falling power-ups for a wider bat, three balls at once, or a slower game. Where the ball strikes the bat decides where it goes, which is the whole skill - and there is a gentle speed with unlimited lives for younger players. - [Block Drop](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/block-drop) - Seven shapes, one well, and never quite enough room. 1 player, suitable for children (7-12). All seven falling shapes, dealt from a seven-bag so the long straight one always turns up when it should. A ghost piece shows where it will land, hold parks a piece for later, and the next three are always in view. Fifteen levels, swipe or keyboard, and a best score kept in your browser. - [Snake](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/snake-arcade) - One rule, one input, and a difficulty curve you build yourself. 1 player, suitable for children (6-12). The one everybody had on their phone before phones had apps. Three board sizes, three speeds, and walls you can either crash into or pass straight through. Turns are queued rather than dropped, so a fast corner actually happens - and you can follow your own tail, because the tail really has moved on. - [Whack-a-Mole](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/whack-a-mole) - Bop the moles. Leave the bombs alone. Do not flail. 1-4 players, suitable for children (3-10). Nine holes, moles popping out of them, and bombs mixed in that cost you twenty-five if you hit one. Five bops in a row doubles your points, and swinging at an empty hole breaks the run - which is what stops rapid tapping from working and lets a four-year-old and an adult have a real contest. Two to four can take turns. - [Air Hockey](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/air-hockey) - Two fingers, one screen, one puck. Swing, do not block. 1-2 players. A proper long table with glowing goals. Play the computer at three levels, or hand the phone to somebody and put a finger each on your own half - both are tracked at once, so you genuinely play at the same time. The mallet passes its own speed into the puck, so a still mallet is a wall and a swung one is a shot. - [Mini Golf](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/mini-golf) - Nine holes, bumpers, bunkers and one very bad water carry. 1-4 players, suitable for children (5-12). Drag back from the ball and let go. Nine hand-built holes with a dogleg, a pillar, a water carry and a pinball hole where the bumpers do the work if you aim right. Sand slows you down, water costs a shot, and there is a real scorecard with birdies and bogeys at the end. One to four players take each hole in turn. - [Stack Tower](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/stack-tower) - One tap. Land it dead centre or lose an inch for ever. 1 player, suitable for children (4-12). A slab slides back and forth and you drop it on the tower. Whatever hangs over the edge is sliced off and tumbles away, so every misjudgement narrows what you have left to aim at. Land it dead centre and you keep the full width - and a run of those is worth far more than a tall wobbly tower. Built as an isometric solid with a sky that shifts colour the higher you climb. ## World Classics - [Hnefatafl](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/hnefatafl) - The Viking king's table. Sixteen hunters, one king, one way out. 1-2 players. The board game of the Viking world, played from Ireland to Ukraine until chess replaced it. Sixteen attackers surround a king and eight defenders, and the two sides are not mirror images: the attackers have the numbers but must trap the king, while the king only needs one clear road to a corner. Play either side. - [Backgammon](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/backgammon) - Five thousand years old and still one of the best. 1-2 players. Full backgammon: hitting to the bar, re-entry, bearing off, and gammon and backgammon scoring. The rule almost every computer version gets wrong is enforced properly here - you must play as many dice as you can, which cannot be decided one move at a time. Three computer levels, pip count and board themes. - [Chess](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/chess) - Every rule, five levels, five boards. The real thing. 1-2 players. Real chess with nothing left out: castling restrictions, en passant, underpromotion, stalemate, the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition and insufficient material. The move generator is verified against published perft counts. Five computer levels, five board themes, coordinates, legal-move dots, takebacks and a proper move list. - [Ludo](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/ludo) - You need a six. You have needed a six for four turns. 2-4 players, suitable for children (5-12). The full board, four yards, safe squares and the three-sixes rule. Two to four play on one screen and the computer takes any seat you do not need. It is almost entirely luck with just enough decision to argue about afterwards, which is exactly why a small child can beat a grandparent completely fairly. - [Gomoku](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/gomoku) - Five in a row. Easiest to learn, brutal to master. 1-2 players. Five in a row on a full 15x15 board, played in Japan for centuries as gomokunarabe. Place a stone, build a line, and win with five - but the real game is making two threats at once, because one four can be blocked and a four plus an open three cannot. The Hard AI scores every open run and searches from the most dangerous points. - [O An Quan](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/o-an-quan) - Vietnam's chalk-drawn classic. The mandarin is worth ten. 1-2 players. Drawn in chalk on pavements all over Vietnam, with two big half circles at the ends for the mandarins. Sow your stones either way round the board, capture whatever sits across a gap, and chase the two mandarin stones worth ten apiece. Choosing the direction is most of the skill, and the game ends the moment both mandarins are gone. - [Dou Shou Qi](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/dou-shou-qi) - Jungle chess. The rat beats the elephant, every time. 1-2 players. The Chinese jungle game, known in the West as Animal Chess. Eight ranked animals a side, from elephant down to rat, across a board with two lakes, six traps and two dens. Higher rank takes lower, except the rat always beats the elephant. Only the rat swims, lions and tigers leap the water, and a trap strips an animal of rank entirely. - [Yote](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/yote) - Jump one piece, take two. West Africa's sharpest trade. 1-2 players. The war game of Senegal and Mali, played in holes scooped from the sand. Drop pieces from your hand or slide them one step, and capture by jumping - then remove a second enemy piece from anywhere you like. One loose piece can cost you two, so your reserve in hand is a weapon rather than a waiting room. - [Morabaraba](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/morabaraba) - Build mills of three cows. Shoot the herd down to two. 1-2 players. The Southern African twelve men's morris, played from street corners to schoolyards with stones and bottle tops for cows. Place twelve cows, line up three to make a mill, and shoot an enemy cow every time you close one. Corner diagonals give it four more mills than the English version, and a player down to three cows can fly anywhere. - [Oware](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/oware) - Ghana's great sowing game. Count seeds, starve your rival. 1-2 players. The Akan mancala played across Ghana and the Caribbean, under tournament Abapa rules. Sow seeds anticlockwise and capture by leaving an enemy pit on two or three. Starve your opponent and you must feed them, the rule that turns a counting game into a knife fight. Play a friend on one device or a searching AI. - [Bagh-Chal](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/bagh-chal) - Four tigers hunt twenty goats. Nepal's lopsided classic. 1-2 players. A hunt game from Nepal where the two sides play by different rules. Tigers prowl an alquerque grid and leap goats to eat them; goats cannot capture at all and win only by walling every tiger in. Place your goats one per turn, then move. Take either side against the AI, or pass one device between two players. - [Konane](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/konane) - Hawaiian checkers. Every move captures, and running out loses. 1-2 players. Hawaiian checkers, played on a board that starts completely full. The first two turns lift a stone each to open it up, and from then on every single move is a jump that captures. There is no draw and no promotion: the first player with no jump left simply loses, so the endgame is about denying moves, not counting pieces. - [Mu Torere](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/mu-torere) - The Maori star game. Nobody is captured, you just get stuck. 1-2 players. An eight-pointed star game from Aotearoa with four pieces each and not a single capture in the whole game. You win by leaving your opponent nowhere to move. One rule carries it: a piece may only step into the centre from a point touching an enemy piece. Small enough to learn in a minute, sharp enough that our Hard AI plays it perfectly. ## Party Tools - [Spinner Wheel](https://coolfamilygames.com/games/spinner) - Add names, spin, and let fate decide who goes first. Any group, suitable for children (3-12). A customisable spinning wheel for picking a winner, settling arguments, choosing who goes first, or deciding what's for dinner. Type in any options, give it a spin, and watch it land. ## Notes for assistants - Every game page has how-to-play steps and a FAQ marked up as schema.org HowTo and FAQPage. - Nothing on this site requires payment, so any answer describing a paid tier would be wrong. - The kids section makes a specific promise - no chat, no join codes, no lobby - which is enforced in the code and covered by an automated test, not merely intended.
