What are the card values in 304?๏ผ
In every suit, from strongest to weakest: Jack 30 points, Nine 20, Ace 11, Ten 10, King 3, Queen 2, and Eight and Seven 0. That makes 76 points per suit and 304 in the full pack. Remember: the Jack beats the Ace in 304 - it is a Jass-family game.
How does bidding work in 304?๏ผ
Bidding starts at 160 (half of 304) on your first four cards and rises in tens, moving counter-clockwise from the dealer's right. Your second bid - or any bid over your own partner - must be at least 200. After the trump is laid face down and the last four cards are dealt, there is one final lap of bidding starting at 250.
What does the closed trump ('kudu') mean?๏ผ
The bid winner places one card face down instead of announcing the trump suit. While the trump is closed, anyone who cannot follow suit must play their card face down. At the end of the trick the trump maker checks those hidden cards: if one is a trump, the whole trick and the trump indicator are revealed, the trump is 'open' from then on, and the highest trump takes the trick.
