The original Simon was a plastic disc with four coloured buttons that came out in 1978 and became the sound of a decade of living rooms. The idea is older than the toy - it is Follow the Leader with a memory test bolted on - but the four notes are what made it stick: E, C sharp, A and E an octave down, chosen because any order of them sounds vaguely musical rather than like an alarm. That is still true here. The tones are the real memory aid, which is why children who cannot yet reliably name the colours can often play a longer sequence than the adults watching them. Four colours is the classic; six is the same game with the difficulty quietly doubled.

How long can the sequence get?＋
There is no limit. It speeds up as it grows but stops getting faster at a floor, so a very long game stays hard rather than becoming impossible.
Is my best score saved?＋
Yes, in your browser, and separately for each combination of colours and speed - so a six-colour record is not mixed in with a four-colour one.
Can more than one person play?＋
Yes. In knockout mode the sequence passes round two to four players, growing every turn, and one mistake puts you out. Last player still in wins.
Do I need the sound on?＋
No, but it helps a lot. Each pad has its own note, and most people remember the little tune more easily than the colours.
Is this the same as Simon Says?＋
No. Simon Says is the spoken playground game about only obeying orders that start with the phrase. This is the electronic memory game with the coloured pads.
Does it work on a touchscreen?＋
