How to play Tic Tac Toe
- 1Pick your mode: two players on one device, or against the AI on Easy or Hard.
- 2Player X always goes first. Tap any empty square to place your mark.
- 3Players alternate turns, each trying to get three of their marks in a row.
- 4Line up three in a row - across, down, or diagonally - to win the round.
- 5If all nine squares fill up with no line of three, the round is a draw.
- 6Tap Play again for an instant rematch. The scoreboard tracks every round.
Tic Tac Toe, also called noughts and crosses, is one of the world's simplest strategy games. Between two perfect players it always ends in a draw - which is exactly why our Hard AI, powered by the minimax algorithm, can never be beaten. Try to force the draw, or switch to Easy mode for a winnable challenge.
