How to play Pig Dice
- 1Add 2 to 6 players and give everyone a name to get started.
- 2On your turn, tap Roll to roll the die and add its value to your turn total.
- 3Keep rolling to build points - but if you ever roll a 1, you lose your whole turn total and play passes on.
- 4Tap Hold at any time to bank your turn total into your score and safely end your turn.
- 5Play passes clockwise around all the players after each turn.
- 6The first player to reach 100 points wins the game.
Pig is a classic 'jeopardy dice' game dating back to 1945, famous for being simple to learn but surprisingly rich in strategy. The core tension is greed versus safety: every roll risks everything you've built this turn. A common tactic is the 'hold at 20' rule - bank once your turn total hits 20 - but bold players chase bigger swings.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when you roll a 1 in Pig?+
You immediately lose all the points accumulated during that turn (your turn total resets to zero) and play passes to the next player. Points already banked are safe.
How many players can play?+
Between 2 and 6 players share a single device, taking turns to roll and hold.
What's a good Pig strategy?+
A well-known simple strategy is to hold once your turn total reaches about 20 points. Adjust based on the score - take bigger risks when you're behind.
What score do you need to win?+
The first player to reach a total of 100 points wins the game.
