How to play Deal or No Deal

  1. 1There are 16 sealed cases, each hiding a different amount from 1 cent up to $50,000.
  2. 2Choose one case to be yours - its value stays secret until the very end.
  3. 3Each round, open several of the other cases to reveal and remove their amounts from the board.
  4. 4After each round the banker phones in an offer to buy your case. Take it (Deal) or play on (No Deal).
  5. 5Opening big amounts hurts your offers; opening small ones makes the banker bid higher.
  6. 6Hold your nerve to the final two cases, then keep yours or swap - and reveal what you've won.

Deal or No Deal is a game of pure nerve and probability. There's no skill in which case holds what - but every decision to deal or keep going is a gamble against the banker, whose offer tracks the average of the prizes still in play. Do you lock in a guaranteed amount, or chase the $50,000 and risk walking away with a penny?

Frequently asked questions

How does the banker's offer work?

The banker offers a fraction of the average value of all the cases still unopened, including yours. Early offers are low; as the game goes on and fewer cases remain, the offers climb closer to the true average.

Is there any strategy?

Not in which cases you open - that's luck. The real decision is when to deal. If a great offer appears and the big amounts are still on the board, taking a guaranteed sum can be the smart play.

What are the amounts?

Sixteen prizes ranging from $0.01 up to $50,000. The high-value amounts are highlighted on the ladder so you can see what's still in play.

Can I play again?

Yes, as many times as you like - the cases are reshuffled every game, and it's completely free with no sign-up.
