About Spot the Odd One

Play Spot the Odd One free: a two-player visual puzzle race on one screen. Wrong taps freeze you.

This is a test of a skill psychologists call visual search, and it is one where children are often genuinely as good as adults - they have less of a habit of seeing what they expect to see. The pairs are chosen to be close: a face with its eyes open versus closed, a cookie versus a doughnut. The grid grows from 16 pictures on Easy to 42 on Hard.

Do both players get the same grid?๏ผ‹

Yes. Same pictures, same odd one, same place.

Is it good for young children?๏ผ‹

Very. Easy uses a 4 by 4 grid and there is nothing to read.

How do we hold the tablet?๏ผ‹

Lie it flat between you for face to face - the top half turns round to face the other player. Or sit side by side with it upright in front of you. It picks one from the shape of the screen, and the button in the middle switches it.

Why do wrong taps freeze me?๏ผ‹

Otherwise tapping everywhere would win. The freeze makes looking carefully the fastest way.
