About the fun facts questions
Fun facts are the easiest thing in the world to get wrong, because the best-known ones are mostly untrue. Almost every list circulating online repeats the same handful of myths. This set is built the other way round: a fact only goes in if it holds up, and the well-known false ones are blocked by a check that runs before anything is published.
The facts are grouped by year group so they land properly. A five year old wants to know that an octopus has three hearts. A ten year old wants to know why. A grown-up wants the one they have not heard, which is a much harder brief.
Every fact comes with the explanation behind it rather than just the answer, so it is something you can repeat at dinner without being caught out.
Frequently asked
Are these facts actually true?๏ผ
That is the whole point of the set. Each one is written, then adversarially checked by a separate pass whose job is to find what is wrong with it, and a script blocks a list of famous myths from being marked correct.
Which myths are blocked?๏ผ
Among others: the Great Wall from space, ten per cent of the brain, goldfish memory, horned Viking helmets, blue human blood, the tongue taste map, sugar causing hyperactivity, and Einstein failing maths.
Is it good for a car journey?๏ผ
Yes, and read-aloud makes it work without anybody having to look at the screen. Easy mode has no clock, so passing the phone round is fine.
